  • As mentioned earlier, we're going to easily add a new rack to our data center fabric. Here we have a data center in Philadelphia.
  • Click on staged
  • We have two spines. and a pair of leaf switches. In this use case, we'd like to add more capacity by adding another rack and more servers.
  • Click on Managed Devices
  • In the Devices tab, we can view the inventory of existing devices. Among them we have a leaf device that is ready, but is not active yet. That is the one we will use.
  • Let us get back to Philadelphia DC
  • Staged tab is where we set up and/or make configuration changes. Active tab on the other hand is where we can view the already active configuration.
  • Click on Racks
  • Click on the button to add a new rack
  • We're going to add a single evpn rack with a single leaf switch and a single server.
  • Choose the evpn-single option as highlighted earlier
  • Click on Add
  • Click on Toplogy tab to view the topology
  • We notice here Apstra has already added the new rack, shown under both Racks tab, and also at the topology tab with visual, as seen here in yellow.
  • Next we will assing a device profile
  • Click on the interface as shown
  • Click on the edit icon
  • Choose from the pull down menu
  • Choose the desired option as shown
  • Update the assignment
  • Now we need to assign a system ID
  • Click on the Assigned system IDs to start the process
  • Click here to assing a system ID
  • Click on the drop down menu
  • Choose the system ID as shown
  • Save the chosen system ID
  • Next we will choose the deploy mode
  • Choose the ready option as shown
  • Click Save
  • We are ready to commit the changes
  • Add a note to indicate the reason for the chage and then click on Commit
  • The rack will be added once the commit validation is completed
  • New rack is added
